Explore your family's history
I have been doing family history research for over 20 years starting with my own family and friends and expanding to external clients more recently. I have formal education in genealogy through the International Institute for Genealogical Studies with certificates in Canadian Records and Genetic Genealogy. The area of research that I find most rewarding is genetic genealogy, solving mysteries using DNA testing.
I also have a lot of family records in the area where my own family is from, the counties of Lenox and Addington, Frontenac, and Hastings Ontario, with over 30,000 individual names in my databank.
When working with clients, whether friends, family or new acquaintances, my goal is to search for truth and information about a family’s history, an individual’s heritage or genetic relationships with grace and discretion knowing that the information I find is private and personal and can sometimes be unexpected.
I approach it looking for the truth while always keeping the feelings and privacy of my clients foremost in my mind.
Client confidentiality is a priority in any research project I undertake.
Members of my family and I had joined Ancestry more than 10 years ago, submitting our DNA samples, and we had made the usual 5th or 6th cousin connections, some of them responding by emails. Overall, nothing of consequence to our lives, but interesting nonetheless.
I was introduced to Cindy and her services in the fall of 2023 through a very pleasant surprise. She reached out me through Ancestry to advise that she was working on behalf of a client, and in confidence wanted to reveal some extremely sensitive information.
The note from Cindy was completely different to anything I had experienced before on Ancestry. She had news that would change the lives of me and my family.
Working through family trees and DNA links, Cindy had established that my sister and I now shared an older half sibling, who had been given up for adoption at birth, more than a decade before either of us were born. We now had an opportunity, years later, to meet. We were both ecstatic and cautious...how could we proceed? Cindy provided a safe environment for us to discuss options for next steps of contact, and ultimately participated as a chaperone for us to meet our long lost sister in a neutral and safe place. Since then we have met with our new sister two more times, and recently celebrated a Christmas event together hosted by our cousin.
I would not hesitate to recommend Cindy for your family tree, history, and other genealogy needs. Her diligence and tact helped us navigate this situation with ease. In our case, it was a miracle, and we are grateful she could share in our joy.
I have worked with this amazing individual on two occasions now. Cindy has done both my husband’s and my family Ancestry.
We are extremely happy with the way this was accomplished.
Cindy is very kind, empathetic and discreet and has a phenomenal talent for finding information. She did a superb job tracing relatives both back and sideways, while also finding some very interesting historical facts and pictures.
She exhibits a passion for her chosen job that is a true gift. She goes far and above by staying right by her client’s side through the whole process to keep everyone in her precious care while they learn some possible surprising family information.
Our family experience involved finding our birth family after adoption and has resulted in a happy miracle of finding brothers, sisters, and cousins. She facilitated our first meeting and held our hand all the way through our first meeting at our request.
We are forever grateful that we took a huge leap of faith and sought her services. We would never have had this incredible miracle happen if we had not done it.
Anyone who has even a small interest in their Ancestry for any reason would do well to contact this very skilful, caring person who will immediately help.
