My Background
I have been doing family history research for over 20 years starting with my own family and friends and expanding to external clients more recently. I have formal education in genealogy through the International Institute for Genealogical Studies with certificates in Canadian Records and Genetic Genealogy. The area of research that I find most rewarding is genetic genealogy, solving mysteries using DNA testing.
I also have a lot of family records in the area where my own family is from, the counties of Lenox and Addington, Frontenac, and Hastings Ontario, with over 30,000 individual names in my databank.
My Philosophy
When working with clients, whether friends, family or new acquaintances, my goal is to search for truth and information about a family’s history, an individual’s heritage or genetic relationships with grace and discretion knowing that the information I find is private and personal and can sometimes be unexpected.
I approach it looking for the truth while always keeping the feelings and privacy of my clients foremost in my mind.
Client confidentiality is a priority in any research project I undertake.

Members of my family and I had joined Ancestry more than 10 years ago, submitting our DNA samples, and we had made the usual 5th or 6th cousin connections, some of them responding by emails. Overall, nothing of consequence to our lives, but interesting nonetheless.
